MOULTONBOROUGH --- William "Bill" Axel Lewis, 77, of Moultonborough, NH, passed away peacefully at home on May 13, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born on June 15, 1948. Bill lived a life filled with laughter, adventure, service, and deep devotion to those he loved.
Bill was predeceased by his beloved wife, Mary E. Lewis, who passed away in 2011, as well as his parents, William L. Lewis (1993) and Ilene M. Lewis (Anderson) (1999).
He leaves behind his loving family: his three daughters, Bobbi-Jo Trodella and her husband Tony of Auburn, MA; Nicole Proulx and her husband Aaron of Londonderry, NH; and Sheri Lothridge and her husband Robert of St. Cloud, FL.
Bill was lovingly known as "Other B" and "Papa" to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His grandchildren include Tyler Anderson and his wife Brittany of Wilbraham, MA; Emily Dixon and her husband Steven of Worcester, MA; Nora Proulx; Levi Proulx; and Sarah Lothridge, His great-grandchildren include Axel Anderson, Avery Anderson, Audrey Dixon, and a great-granddaughter expected in November.
He is also survived by his dear sister, Virginia Lincoln, widow of the late Richard Lincoln (2018) of Old Orchard Beach, ME, along with many nieces, nephews, close friends whom he loved dearly, and his beloved cat, Bozo, who brought him comfort and companionship during his final days."
A graduate of Waltham High School in Waltham, MA, Bill proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed a life filled with fishing, boating, snowmobiling, and driving the back roads of New Hampshire in search of wildlife. He cherished time spent with family and friends and was known for his quick wit, humor, and ability to make everyone laugh. He enjoyed playing Keno and scratching lottery tickets, always enjoying the excitement of a chance to win the million. He will be remembered for his big heart and unforgettable personality.
A military graveside service will be held on May 30th at 2:30 pm at Shannon Cemetery in Moultonborough, NH with a celebration of life to follow.

William's family finds comfort knowing he has been reunited with loved ones who passed before him, likely somewhere peaceful, casting a fishing line, sharing stories, and watching over those he loved most.
