William Thomas Higgins, 69, of N. Sandwich, NH, died May 6, 2017, at his home, after a long battle with cancer.
Born in Cleveland, Ohio on October 2, 1947, he was the son of Ellsworth George and Mary (Dulaney) Martin.
William grew up in Hinckley, OH., and graduated from Brunswick High School, Brunswick, OH., class of 1965. He has been a resident of N. Sandwich since 1998.
After high school, William enlisted in the US Air Force and spent twenty-three years serving his country, until his retirement in 1989. William went on to be a Flight Engineer and was a Flight Simulator Instructor for Saudi Airlines, in Saudi Arabia, for about eight years.
William was a member of the Red Mountain Lodge #68 F&AM, in Center Sandwich, NH. and the Sandwich Congregational Church, Center Sandwich, NH.
William is survived by his wife of thirty-seven years, Lenore L. (Anderson) Higgins of N. Sandwich, NH, his daughters, Helen Burger and her husband Craig of Worcester, MA., Kelly Higgins of Center Sandwich, NH, grandchildren, Idela Jane and Agatha Mae, his brother, Norman Higgins and his wife Mary of Daleville AL., his sisters, Ruby Case and her husband David of Medina, OH., and Mary Lou Porter and her husband Dwight of Oshkosh, NE., many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held at the Mayhew Funeral Home, 204 Daniel Webster Highway, Meredith, on Wednesday, May 10th, 5pm to 7pm. A Masonic Service will be held by the Red Mountain Lodge #68 at 6:30pm. A funeral service will be held at the Sandwich Congregational Church, Center Sandwich, NH., on Thursday, May 11th, at 10am. The Rev. Ted Brayman will officiate. Burial will follow in the NH Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen, NH.
