William Earl Gove, 89, of Gove's Lane, died May 11, 2018 at his home, after a period of failing health.
Born in Plymouth, NH. on April 8, 1929, he was the son of Charles Earl and Beatrice Maybelle (Downing) Gove.
William grew up in Wentworth and graduated from Wentworth Schools and Plymouth High School, in Plymouth. He resided in Westfield Massachusetts for many years and moved back to Wentworth in December of 1961.
Bill worked for several construction companies over the years including; Pike Industries, at the asphalt plant, in Lebanon, NH, and the State of New Hampshire Department of Transportation, until his retirement. During his retirement, he started Gove and Son Logging.
William served the town of Wentworth as a selectman and was a past member of the Knights of Pythias, in Warren.
Bill was a US Army veteran.
William was predeceased by his wife of sixty-four years, Virginia Catherine (Mayne) Gove, who died in November of 2015, his twin brother, Floyd Jackson Gove, who died in October of 2015, and his sister, Barbara Mae Pike.
William is survived by his daughter, Dawn M. Gove of Wentworth, his son, Andrew W. Gove and his wife Dorothy, of Penacook, three grandchildren, Stephanie, Matthew, and Zachary, two great grandchild, Caelum, Azalea, and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held in the Mayhew Funeral Home, 12 Langdon St, Plymouth, on Wednesday, May 16th from 6pm to 8pm. A graveside service will be held in the Foster Cemetery, Route 25, Wentworth, on Thursday, May 17th at 11am. The Rev. Brenda Wentworth will officiate.
