Wesley H. Platts, 94, formerly of North Road, passed away peacefully on November 18, 2009, lovingly surrounded by his family.Wes was born on December 11, 1914 in Manchester, the son of Winnifred L. Sulloway and Frederick A. Platts. Frederick passed away early in Wesley's life. Winnifred remarried Fred Gray who lovingly helped Winnifred raise her boys.Wesley attended Bristol schools, graduating from Bristol High School in 1933. He went on to attend Thoompson School of Agriculture at UNH for Poultry Science. As a young man Wes worked as a store clerk for G.G. Cummings in Bristol Square.Wesley married Louise M. Pulsifer on September 22, 1945. They raised their family with love, united together, never with a harsh word. They ran their family farm, Weslou Farm, first as a poultry farm, and later as a working dairy farm. The lessons they taught their family of love, work, and truthful living, were their biggest gifts.Wesley was predeceased by his wife Louise; his parents; an infant son; his brother Kenneth; his Aunt Averie and Uncle Clyde; and other aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is survived by his four children, Charlotte Barron and her husband Arthur, Harold Platts, Fred Platts and his wife Penny, Barbara Platts-Comeau and her husband Bill; four grandchildren, Leslie Robie and her husband Brett, Lorna Platts, James Platts, Beth Farmer, and her husband Jeff; three great-grandchildren, Duncan Farmer, Mason Farmer, and Jillian Robie; he is also survived by his companion, Blondie, a golden retriever.Memorials:In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alexandria Volunteer Fire Department, or to the Haynes Library, of Alexandria.Service:A graveside service will be held on Saturday, November 21, 2009 at 3:30 pm in the Homeland Cemetery, Rte. 104 in Bristol. Rev. John Fischer, pastor of the Alexandria United Methodist Church, will officiate.
