Wayne C. Morse, 62, of Warren, passed away on Friday August 20, 2010, after a period of declining health.He was born in Salem, MA on May 15, 1948 to Wallace C. and Marion R. (Hoberg) Morse. Mr. Morse was raised in Newburyport, MA, and also lived in Londonderry, NH, Hampton, FL, and Warren, NH. He traveled extensively throughout the United States and forged many long lasting friendships along the way.Mr. Morse enlisted in the Marine Corp in April, 1969. After basic training at Parris Island, SC, he was assigned to Delta Co., 1st BN, 7th Marines, 1st Marine Div. in Vietnam.After several months in combat he was severely wounded. For his outstanding service to his country he was awarded the Purple Heart, A Bronze Star with Combat "V", and a Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry Medal.Although painfully wounded, this exceptional Marine displayed uncommon courage as he verbally encouraged his fellow Marines to continue their mission. By his bold initiative, courage in the face of the enemy, outstanding professionalism, and selfless devotion to duty throughout, Lance Corporal Morse upheld the highest tradition of the United States Marines Corps.He will be deeply missed by all that knew him. "Semper Fi"Mr. Morse was predeceased by his brother, Peter Morse, in 1998.He leaves behind one daughter, Shelly Jordan, of Seabrook, NH; one grandchild; several close friends, Tim Sackett, of Warren, Buzz Zarotny, of Manchester, the late Jim Seavey, and his wife Elizabeth Gerrish, of Lebanon, ME, Joe Petro, of Londonderry, Wayne Melvin, of Newburyport, MA, Pat Hanley, of MI, Tom McGuy, of Warren, Tom and Sal Terranova, of CT, and many other close friends.Memorials:Donations may be made in Wayne's memory to a charity of one's choice.Visitation:A calling hour will be held on Friday, April 27, 2010, at Mayhew Funeral Home, 12 Langdon St., Plymouth, from 11:45 am thru 12:45 pm.Cemetery:Interment will follow the calling hour at the New Hampshire Veterans Cemetery, 110 D.W. Highway, Boscawen, at 2:00 pm.
