Dr. Vincent Natale Scalese Jr. born December 2, 1947 in Cambridge, MA died of complications of a perforated esophagus on January 6, 2019 surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by the love of his life Jean Cassidy Scalese and their 3 children Sharon Boule & husband James of Campton, NH, Michael Scalese & wife Jennifer of Framingham, MA and Daniel Scalese & wife Courtney of Vernon, CT along with 4 grandchildren he adored: Ashley Boule, Braedon, Ayva, and Carlo Scalese. He was son of the late Vincent & Iola Ciccarelli Scalese and brother to Mary & husband Jay Dufur, Robert & wife Carol Scalese, Theresa & late husband Peter Kozachek and John & wife Cheryl Scalese, brother-in-law to Bob, Gerry, Jack and Paul Cassidy and uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Vincent received his Bachelor's degree at University of Mass Amherst, Master's at Fitchburg State and Doctorate at Western Michigan U.
For 37 years Vincent was a New Hampshire licensed psychologist. He was listed in the National Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology and was a Fellow and Diplomat on the American Board of Medical Psychotherapists and Psychodiagnosticians. In 2001 he merged his private practice with Midstate Health Center, serving first as the Behavioral Health Director and finishing his career as a staff psychologist. In 2013 he was nominated by Governor Hassan to serve on the state board of the newly formed New Hampshire Psychological Association and elected its first Chair. Additionally Vincent taught Psychology related courses for many years at Plymouth State University as a member of the adjunct faculty.
Vincent was an avid outdoorsman, hiked all of New Hampshire's 4000 footers the summer & winter. He enjoyed running, hiking, camping, telemark skiing and vacationing with family. In his retirement, he volunteered at Lincoln Woods in the National Forest and spent summers in Wells, ME walking and cycling with his wife, sharing time and creating memories with loved ones and friends.
Calling hours will be at the Mayhew Funeral Home, 12 Langdon St., Plymouth, NH Thursday, Jan. 10, from 4-7pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at: St. Matthews Church, Plymouth Friday, Jan. 11, at 11am.
