Vera Elmina Wright, 97, formerly of Bristol, died May 1, 2012, at the Merrimack County Home, Boscawen, after years of declining health.
Born in Plymouth, NH, on March 10, 1915, she was the daughter of George W. and Ethel [Spaulding] Sherburn.
Vera grew up in Plymouth and graduated from Plymouth Schools and also had studied art at Plymouth Normal School, now Plymouth State University. She married Roy A. Wright on April 15, 1937 and they resided for three years in So. Portland, ME, during World War II. She moved her family to Bristol in 1948 and has spent the last several years in Boscawen.
While an excellent homemaker, Vera found time and talents in nature studies, gardening, drawing and playing the piano. She was an accomplished member of the NH Audubon Society and led the annual hawk watch on Inspiration Point in Bristol. She had many friends through-out the years and a fondness for dogs, cats and other animals.
Vera was predeceased by her husband of fifty years, Roy Arthur Wright, a son, James P. Wright, her brothers, Oliver and Frank.
She is survived by her son Victor R. Wright and his wife Joyce of Contoocook, grandchildren Kenneth Wright and Kathryn Bouscaren of California, Janis Flanders of Alexandria, great grandchildren, Michael and Elisa Flanders of Alexandria, nieces, Patricia Locke of Concord, Irene Gilman of Loudon, grand nieces, grand nephews and cousins.
The family is grateful for the compassion and love shown to her by the Merrimack County Home in her final years.Service:A funeral service will be held in the Mayhew Funeral Home, 12 Langdon St. Plymouth, on Friday, at 2pm. The Rev. Edward J. Charest, pastor of the Plymouth United Methodist Church, will officiate. Cemetery:Burial will follow in the Riverside Cemetery, Plymouth.
