KEENE - Tracy Palmer, 52 of Keene passed away Monday Oct, 10, 2016 at Elliot Hospital in Manchester following a courageous battle with Crohn's disease. She died surrounded by family and close friends.
Tracy was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was known for her upbeat personality and zest for life. She was a caretaker and mother figure for family and so many friends. She also had a love for animals.
Her life was an open door for others. She was a natural in that role, and it made her happiest.
She enjoyed making jewelry, being near the ocean, a long night of playing cards at a table with good friends. She had a sense of humor that command any room, any crowd. For the past six years she was a doting grand-mother to her grand-daughter, Ayla May Palmer.
Tracy lived with grace and without complaint in the face of health challenges, rarely slowing down, always smiling.
She grew up in Campton, but lived in Keene for the past 19 years. She graduated from Plymouth area High School in 1982. She attended Hesser College in Manchester. She worked for the University of New Hampshire at Plymouth State College and Keene State College, where she retired in 2008. She also worked at Eyeworks in Keene and was a certified paraoptemetric assistant.
She is survived by her husband, Steve Paler; her son, Brad Palmer of Milford; her granddaughter, Ayla; her mother, Elaine "Wink" Van Knowe of Campton; her mother-on-law, Harriet Palmer of Wentworth; a sister, Barbara A. Hadacek, and her husband, John, of Lakeville, Minn., and their three children, Michael, Emma and Jack; an uncle, Tom Crossett, and his wife, Maureen, of owing Mills, Md., and their children, Matt and Sarah; an aunt, Kathleen Harriman and her husband, Haven of Gilford, and their children, Kyle and Josh; a step-mother, Carol Crossett Gray of Stewartstown, and two nieces, Amanda Townsend and her husband, Car, of Wentworth and Alexandria Niizuma of Illinois, her father, William W. Crossett, Jr. and her father-in-law, Robert A. Palmer who died earlier.
Friends and family are invited to call on the family Friday, Oct. 21 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Mayhew Funeral Home, 12 Langdon St., Plymouth. A graveside service will be held Saturday, Oct, 22, at 11 a.m. at the Blair Cemetery in Campton.
A celebration of life will be held immediately after in the Foster Room at the Common Man restaurant in Plymouth.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donation be made in Tracy Palmer's name to the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of New England, 72 River Park St., Suite 202, Needham, Mass, 02494.
