Toby Vining Eaton, 69, of Sandwich, NH passed away unexpectedly on July 20, 2022.
Toby was born on January 14, 1953, in Hingham, Massachusetts to Robert Ayers Eaton and Meredith Vining Eaton. Toby graduated in 1971 from Hingham High School. Toby's passions for the outdoors and sports brought him to Colorado where he graduated from the University of Denver in 1976 with a BA in Geology.
Toby spent time in Sun Valley, ID. and Martha's Vineyard, MA, before permanently settling down in Center Sandwich, NH There he founded Toby Eaton Post & Beam Builders, which he successfully owned and operated for over 20 years. Continuing his passion for education, Toby received multiple master's Degrees in Business and School Business Administration from Plymouth State University. He finished his professional career as the School Business Administrator for Windham School District, Windham, NH, before retiring to his beloved property in Sandwich "Pinecrest".
When Toby moved to NH in 1978, he purchased his family's summer property, which he would soon transform into his year-round home, as well as, where he would start his family. Toby spent much of his free time working outdoors on his property, participating in his children's sports activities and volunteering for local associations, including the Lakes Region Planning Board and serving as Selectman for the Town of Sandwich. Toby will be remembered for his enthusiasm for education and the environment and his love for family, hockey, baseball, and "Pinecrest".
Toby is survived by his daughter Lindsey Eaton of Center Harbor, his son Tyler Eaton, wife Taylor Buffington and grandson Fletcher Eaton of Denver, CO, and his siblings, Nina Eaton, Sarah Eaton, Cameron Eaton, and Robert Eaton Jr., as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A Celebration of Life for Toby will be held at "Pinecrest" in Sandwich on Saturday, October 22, 2022, at 3:00pm for all family and friends. Donations in memory of Toby may be made to the following organizations: Sandwich Fire and Rescue Association, Lakes Region Visiting Nurses Association and The Giraffe Conservation Foundation.
