Thomas Walter Dinsmore, 63, of Rumney, NH passed away on Sunday, February 13, 2011. He was born in Buffalo, NY on May 7, 1947 to Earl Thomas and Jeanette (Majchrzak) Dinsmore. Tom graduated from Kensington High School in 1966 and enlisted in the US Marine Corps. He served from August 18, 1966 to May 8, 1976, including two tours of duty in the Vietnam War, 1968 and 1969. In 1968 he married his first wife Diana Krieger and together they had two children, Lisa Marie and Thomas Earl Dinsmore. Tom received an Associates of Arts in Criminal Justice Administration from Park College, Parkville, Missouri in 1975; a Bachelor of Science in Outdoor Education and a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work from the University of New Hampshire, Durham, in 1987; and a Masters degree in Social Work from the State University of New York, Albany in 1989. He was employed as a clinical social worker, providing services to Veterans at the time of his retirement. He later began his own consulting, woodturning and bonsai business, Serenity Creations. Tom was an avid outdoorsman and reader, a skillful hunter, fisherman, rock and ice climber, backpacker, gardener, and dog trainer. Tom had a strong sense of faith. He most valued the times he could be of help to others and treasured moments spent with his grandchildren. He is survived by his daughter Lisa Dinsmore and son-in-law Scott Patch, of Eliot, ME; son, Thomas E. Dinsmore, of Kittery, ME; two grandchildren, Riley Dinsmore-Patch and Halliday Dinsmore-Patch, both of Eliot, ME; sister, Bettyann Kaiser and brother-in-law Bernhard of Hamburg, NY; and niece Brandy Kaiser of Kenmore, NY.Memorials:In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Tom's name to the Friends of Veterans, 22 Holiday Drive, White River Junction, VT 05001, (802) 296-5118.Visitation:A calling hour will follow the service in the funeral home from 5:00pm through 6:00 pm.Service:A memorial service will be held at Mayhew Funeral Home, 12 Langdon St., Plymouth, on Thursday, February 24, 2011 at 4:00pm.
