Sybol Maxine (Best) Bodge

Sybol Maxine (Best) Bodge, 89, of Moultonborough, passed away Sunday, January 2, 2011, at Lakes Region Hospital, of Laconia.Born on July 1, 1921 in Burkburnett, TX, she was the daughter of William H. and Frances L. (Varner) Best. She was the youngest of seven children.After graduation from high school, Sybol was a pioneer in the Women's Army Air Corp. (WAAC). During World War II her assignment was to entertain potential recruits sharing her talent of voice and song, including a show where she sang with Jack Benny. She later met her husband, Everett, while both were stationed in Portland, OR. After an honorable discharge she made Moultonborough her home.Sybol was a longtime employee of Scott and Williams, Inc., of Laconia, and retired from Clyde B. Foss, Inc., of Moultonborough. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and was exceptional in the art of embroidery and crewel. She was known for her strength, love, and hard work.Sybol is predeceased by her beloved husband of 57 years, Everett Bodge, of Moultonborough.She is survived by her two daughters, Betty Biron and husband Gene, of Redford, MI, and Sandi Wakefield and husband Ed, of Moultonborough; two grandchildren, Danya Wakefield-Roberg and husband Heath, currently stationed in Killeen, TX, and Charlie Biron, of Redford, MI; two nieces, whom she was especially close to in later years, Jeanetta Bagley and Sue Jarrett, both of Iowa Park, TX; and many other nieces and nephews.Memorials:Donations may be made in Sybol's memory to a charity of one's choice.Service:A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 6, 2011, at 11:00 am in the Moultonborough United Methodist Church, (Rte. 25) Moultonborough. Rev. Paul O'Neil, pastor, will officiate.Cemetery:A graveside committal will be held in the spring at the convenience of the family.
