Steven Floyd Rowland, 62, of Moultonborough, NH, died at home on March 7, 2021 with his family by his side. Steven was born on January 12, 1959 on Yokota AFB in Japan to the late Alva Gene and Jessie Rowland. He grew up in Fort Walton Beach, FL, and graduated from Choctawhatchee High School in 1977. Following graduation, Steven joined the Air Force and was stationed at Offutt AFB in Nebraska. Steven joined the Moultonborough Police Department in 1986, and subsequently, the New Hampshire State Police in 1990 where he served until his retirement as Sargent in 2011. In retirement, Steven held positions with the Carroll County Sheriff's Office and at Ridgewood Country Club.
Steven married his beloved wife of 38 years, Annette Rowland, in 1982. Together, they raised three children. Nicholas Rowland (Taryn) of Virginia Beach, VA, is a Chief Petty Officer (CPO) in the US Navy and has two sons, Brody and Beckham. Joshua Rowland (Jessica) of Durham, NC, is an attorney and has two sons, Abraham and August. Ashley Brinkerhoff (Derek) of Arvada, CO, is an environmental professional and has one daughter, Sophie.
In addition to his wife, children, and grandchildren, Steven is survived by his sister, Cheryl Wilson (Stan) of Kissimmee, FL, two brothers, David Rowland (Gina) of Dover, NH and Greg Rowland (Rachel, deceased) of Fryeburg, ME, as well as aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many good friends.
Steven, a dedicated and loving husband, father, and Papa and respected member of the community, enjoyed golf, snowmobiling, and riding ATVs. He will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and loyal service but most of all his amazing sense of humor( Steve could always make us laugh with his silly "dance"). He taught his children kindness, respect, fairness and to have fun in life. Steven battled cancer for two years with courage and strength. His fighting spirit is an inspiration to all who knew and loved him.
A celebration of Steven's life will be delayed until gathering restrictions due to COVID-19 are loosened. Contributions in Steve's memory may be made to Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Sarcoma Foundation of America, and Lakes Region Visiting Nurse Association.
