Stephen Picone, 94, of Arbutus Hill Rd., Meredith, passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family, on October 29, 2010.Born in Filicudi, Sicily, on May 30, 1916, he was the son of Joseph and Rosa (Zugarmi) Picone. In 1925 Stephen emigrated to the U.S. through Ellis Island with his family, moving to Waltham, MA, to be with the rest of their family that previously emigrated.For most of his life, Stephen was a resident of Marlborough, MA, and retired to Meredith as a full-time resident in 1978. Stephen was a family man who deeply loved his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, as he taught them the arts of his favorite passions, fishing and hunting. Stephen was also an avid gardener.He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 52 years, C. Caroline (Silk), in 1991.Stephen is survived by his two children, daughter, Carol Picone, of Exeter, NH, and, son, Joseph Picone and wife Ellen, of Northborough, MA; a sister, Josie Babeneau, of Stewart, FL; two grandchildren, Sherryl Hascall, of Salem, NH, and Kimberly Ann Romanelli and husband Paul, of Charlton City, MA; four great-grandchildren, Kevin and Aaron Hascall, and Maria and Aidan Romanelli.Memorials:Donations may be made in Stephen's name to a charity of one's choice.Service:Services will be private.
