Stephen Charles Knipstein

December 14, 1951 — August 21, 2013

Stephen Charles Knipstein passed away on Wednesday, August 21, 2013.

Steve was born to William and Harriette Knipstein on December 14, 1951 in Exeter, NH. He was the beloved husband of MaryAnne Purtill, father to Robert (Ashley) and Elizabeth, brother to Karen Keefe (Paul), Brian (Laura), Lori and Bruce, a loving Uncle to Ryan, Travis, Kelsey and Jake, and he was a doting Bumpa to Bennett.

Stephen loved sports and the town of Plymouth. He was the first women's soccer coach for PSU. His love for sports encompassed the Patriots, Red Sox, Revolution and Bruins. Even though Steve loved Boston sports his favorite team of all time was the Coventry City Football Club from England. Stephen would sit every Saturday morning and listen to their game via the computer. His work life evolved from coaching to radio to doing public relations work for a number of companies both in New Hampshire and Massachusetts. Steve was a two time graduate of Plymouth State and a proud member of Dee Dee's Weekday Warriors.

He will be sadly missed by all who knew him, especially his "therapy" cat Boots who saw him through his successful 2010 lung transplant. MaryAnne would like to offer a sincere thank you to all who assisted Steve throughout his illness, especially the nursing staff at Pemi-Baker Hospice.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Steve's name to Pemi-Baker Home Health & Hospice, in Plymouth, or the Women's and Men's Soccer Program at Plymouth State University.

A celebration of Steve's life will be held at Foster's Restaurant at the Common Man Inn, Plymouth, NH, on Saturday, September 14th from 1pm to 3pm.
