Dr. Stephen Louis Falchetta, 79, of North Groton Road, died March 1, 2016 at Dartmouth Hitchcock Hospital, in Lebanon, after a long illness.
Born in Bayonne, New Jersey, on July 18, 1936, he was the son of Joseph and Cosimina (Notarnicola) Falchetta.
Stephen grew up in Bayonne and graduated from Bayonne High School. He graduated from Tufts University, in Boston and then from medical school at the University of Bologna, in Bologna, Italy.
Stephen served in the Vietnam War as a Captain in the US Army Medical Corps, and was stationed at Tripler Army Base in Hawaii. After his service in the Army, Stephen worked, for many years, at the Veteran Administration Hospital, in Lyons, NJ. He moved to Groton in 1980 and worked for fifteen years for the Community Mental Health, in Concord, until his retirement in 1995.
Stephen is survived by his wife of 39 years, Linda N. (Reis) Falchetta of Groton, his son, Fred P. Passarella and his wife Cathy of Morris Township, NJ, his grandchildren, Abigail and Christopher, his brother, Vincent Falchetta of Springfield, VA., his sister, Cosimina Delassandro, of Bayonne, NJ., and many nieces and nephews.
