Shirley Reed Tarbell

MOULTONBOROUGH---Shirley Reed Tarbell, (82) passed away on February 23, 2016, at home with family.

She was born in Tuftonboro, NH on March 13, 1933 the daughter of Frank & Mildred (Whiting) Reed.

Shirley was employed as a secretary at Moultonborough Academy from 1986 to 2000, and lovingly known by hundreds of students during that time as "Aunt Shirley". She loved each student as if they were her own child. Her sunny disposition and crazy sense of humor will be sorely missed by the many, many friends she acquired during her lifetime. Her love will follow her family and friends forever as Shirley truly loved people.

She is survived by her sister; Thelma Diltz of Moultonborough, sister in law; Loretta (Mrs. David T.) Reed of Laconia, five children; David Ames and his wife Tracy of Easton, NH, Debra Burton of Ossipee, N.H. and her partner Dennis Thorell, Christopher Clough and his wife Kelly of Milton, NH, Charles L. Tarbell, Jr. and his wife Jan Mirabassi of Wakefield, MA, and Diane Tarbell and her husband Steven Littman of Harrison, NY.
Shirley was predeceased by her husband Charles L. Tarbell on February 8, 2015; two brothers, Robert Reed of Medford, MA, and David T. Reed of Moultonborough, NH; and two sisters, Marion Pike of Tuftonboro, NH, and Joyce Bean of Effingham, NH. Shirley leaves behind nine grandchildren, including Hope(Clough) Rowe and her husband Clint and their soon to arrive son, Lucas Clinton Rowe, Melody, Joel, Kayla, and Jessica Clough, Kevin and Carlie Tarbell, and Sarah and Kate Tarbell-Littmann, and many dearly loved nieces and nephews.
