Shirley Fosie Hutchins, age 86, of Plymouth, N.H., died on December 29, 2018, at Mountain Ridge Center in Franklin.
She was born in Plymouth on February 2, 1932, the daughter of Alfred and Thelma Fosie. Growing up in Plymouth, she graduated from Plymouth High School in 1950.
She took great pride in bringing many of her classmates together for an annual reunion or "ladies' lunch" as she called it. She was a loving wife to Harry Hutchins and a devoted mother to their three children.
She worked for many years in the dining facilities at both Holderness School and Plymouth State (College) University. After retirement she worked part-time for the Hobo Railroad and as an in-home care provider assisting the elderly.
Shirley, also known as "Grammie" and "Gigi," fiercely loved her family and took great joy in having her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren gathered together. She had a zest for life, a ready smile, an infectious giggle and always a story to tell, as she enjoyed writing short stories and poems. As snowbirds, she and Harry enjoyed many winters at their home in Zephyrhills, Fla., and then returned home each spring to enjoy summers and family cookouts on Squam Lake.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Harry Hutchins, Franklin; son Clinton Hutchins and his wife, Michele, St. Simons Island, Ga.; daughter Cheryl McComish, and her husband Dave, Raleigh, N.C.; daughter Robin Bordonaro and her husband, Bob, Mt. Shasta, Calif.; her brother Richard Fosie, Winter Haven, Fla.; eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held in spring 2019, in Riverside Cemetery on Fairgrounds Road in Plymouth.
Memorial donations can be sent to MADD, 123 Goffe St., Manchester, N.H. 03102.
