Samuel George Sneyd

May 21, 1935 — January 26, 2024

Samuel George Sneyd was born in Boston, Massachusetts and lived in the Boston area until he joined the Marine Corp. in 1952 after his graduation from Boston Trade school. He was a proud Marine whose time in the service went through Camp Lejeune. After his discharge from the Marine corp., he married his first wife Ann. They lived in the Quincy area until they moved to Halifax, Massachusetts in 1962 where they raised their son Scott and daughter Cindi.

Sam worked as a machinist then as a Millwright out of Local 1121. He was one of the first men to join the local when it was formed. He worked on jobs all over the world. In later years he worked as a Supervisor for Thomas O’Connor in Canton Massachusetts until his retirement in 1997.

Sam leaves his wife/partner/friend Alyson of 44 years. They moved from Halifax Massachusetts to Moultonboro, NH permanently in 1998 after his retirement. He loved the New Hampshire lakes, mountains, boating, fishing, snowmobiling, motorcycling and a cold beer lakeside with neighbors, friends, and family. And what about those Millwright stories? But, most of all he loved his dogs being with him. He never went anywhere without them or them without him.

Sam also spent the last 10 winters in Florida at the home he and Alyson have in The Villages, Florida. He took full advantage of all the club activities that he could there. He enjoyed spending time with old friends and new friends. There he also found the help he needed to understand more about Parkinson’s which was very much needed.

Sam passed away, peacefully, January 26th at Concord Hospital Laconia at the age of 88. He had been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2017 although the signs were there earlier. Unfortunately, Parkinson’s was a contributing factor to him having to leave us all too soon.

Sam was a fun-loving guy with a big personality! The life of the party! His favorite song was “I did it my way” by Frank Sinatra, which was his approach to life. He wanted to thank everyone for the memories they made with him.

Family was extremely important to Sam. He loved everyone and made sure they knew it. He will be missed so much by all of us. He is survived by his beloved partner/wife of 44 years Alyson, his daughter Cynthia and husband Shelton Person of Brockton, and his son Scott and wife Bibiana, of Taunton. He is also survived by his loving grandchildren Katrina and Kassandra Randall, Brandon Muir, Lindsay and Cameron Sneyd, along with his great granddaughters Raziya Joyner and D’anayjha Murat and recently born great-great granddaughter Nylah Mae. He will be dearly missed by his faithful companion, his dog Minnie.

Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend a service at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery Chapel at 110 Daniel Webster Hwy, Boscawen, NH on Monday, February 5th, 2024, at 1:00PM.
