Ruth Ann Dow

Meredith—Ruth Ann Dow, died on Monday, March 10, 2025, at her home surrounded by family.

Ruth was born on May 28, 1954, in Deerfield, NH daughter of Maurice and Isabel (Fontaine) Witham.

In 1972 she married Donald Dow and together raised three sons.

Ruth loved sewing, camping, fishing, gardening and spending time with family and friends. She also enjoyed cookouts and country music. When her sons were young, she was caretaker for children and could have fifteen or more children under her watch at any given time. She later became a valued member in the housekeeping team at Genesis Healthcare in Laconia.

Ruth will be extremely missed by all who knew her for her caring attitude, complete selflessness, her silly jokes, her smile, laugh, and total dedication to her family and friends.

Ruth is survived by her sons, Steven Dow and his wife, Melissa of Sandwich, Evan Dow of Meredith; seven grandchildren, Stephen, Curtis, Alexis, Travis, Justis, Becket, and Willow; her brothers, John Witham of Deerfield , William “ Bill” Witham of Sutton, KY, and Thomas Witham and his wife, Colette of Deerfield as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband, Donald Dow, her son, Donald Dow Jr.; her brothers, Edward Witham and Robert Witham; and her sister, Thelma.

Ruth will be remembered by loved ones as being a devoted Mom and Nana.

Calling Hours will be held from 4:00pm-6:00pm on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at Mayhew Funeral Home, 204 Daniel Webster Highway, Meredith, NH 03253.
