RUTH W. CILLEY, 88, 55 Riverglen LN, Littleton NH passed away on September 3, 2024, surrounded by her devoted family at Littleton Hospital in NH after a brief illness.
Born in Plymouth NH on November 9, 1935, Ruth was the daughter of Joseph W. Cilley and Nellie E. (Brown) Cilley.
Ruth grew up in New Hampton, NH and attended Hannaford School, and graduated from Bristol High School, the class of 1954. After a loyal employment at the New Hampton Prep School, as a housekeeper, Ruth retired after 46 years. A janitor’s closet was named in her honor for her years of service. She resided in New Hampton and Plymouth NH until 2018 when we moved to Riverglen House (Assisted Living) located in Littleton NH.
Ruth spent most of her early years caring for her beloved parents in their New Hampton home, where she was raised.
Predeceased by parents Joseph and Nellie Cilley; sister Mildred (Millie) Temple and brother-in-law Fred Temple (Plymouth NH and Satsuma FL).
Survivors include her nephew, Bob Temple, and wife Lori (New Hampton, NH); Ron Gallagher and wife Mary (Bristol, NH); David Gallagher (Bristol, NH).
Ruth especially loved to do puzzles and spending time with her dog, Tammy. She often enjoyed treating herself and Tammy to a trip to McDonalds. Ruth enjoyed time with her sister Millie and brother-in-law Fred in both Plymouth and Satsuma, Florida. Memories included trips with her family to the Boston Duck Tour, Cape Cod Chowder Festival and to Yankee Candle. Ruth especially loved the Cabot Cheese Factory in Waterbury, VT. She was a devoted animal lover, which included love for her many cats, dogs and birds over the years.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, September 12th from 5-7 at Mayhew Funeral home, Meredith NH. A graveside service and burial will be on Friday, September 13th at 3pm, located at New Hampton Village Cemetery, Pinnacle Hill Rd., New Hampton NH with Shannon Morrissette officiating.
