Ruth Evelyn Churchill, 81, of Prince Haven, died June 1, 2009, at her home, with her family by her side, after a long courageous battle with a rare form of cancer. She was born in Plymouth on June 5, 1927, the daughter of William and Myrtle [Stevens] Smith. Ruth grew up in Dorchester and resided in Plymouth most all her life. She had also resided in Meredith and Laconia. Ruth was a dependable hard worker at Meredith Brick Manor, now known as Forest View Manor, in Meredith. For twenty-five years, she took care of elderly people in need of assisted living. One of Ruth's hobbies was going to Bingo, you could find her there almost on a nightly basis, with her friend Marion Chase. The other activity she enjoyed was watching her son's race at whatever local track they may be racing at on Saturday nights. She was predeceased by her husbands, Morris Fred Churchill, who died in 1977, and Albert "Sonny" Clogston, who died in 2001, her son, Albert "Butch" Clogston, sisters, Gertrude Hamel, Eva Wakefield, Ethel Wakefield, and brother, Norris "Stubbs" Smith. She is survived by daughters, Cheryl Davis and husband Donald of Campton, Rebecca Eastman of Plymouth, Paula Bixby and husband Stephen of Rumney, sons, Timothy Churchill and wife Holly of Lincoln, James Clogston and wife Susan of Homosassa, FL, thirteen grandchildren, many great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.Memorials:In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, 44 Binney St, Boston, MA. 02115 or the Pemi- Baker Health and Hospice, 101 Boulder Point Drive, Suite #3, Plymouth, 03264.Service: A funeral service will be held in the Mayhew Funeral Home, 12 Langdon St, Plymouth on Thursday at 11am. The Rev. Edward Charest, pastor of the Plymouth United Methodist Church, will officiate. Cemetery:Burial will follow in the Trinity Churchyard Cemetery, Holderness.
