MOULTONBOROUGH---Rose C. Smith, (88), A resident at "The Forestview Manor" Meredith, N.H. passed away peacefully after a lengthy struggle with Alzheimer's Disease on March 14, 2017 with her family at her side.
Rose was born and raised in Brooklyn, N.Y. on May 23, 1928 the daughter of Pasquel and Rosa (Guliucci) Martirani. After graduating from high school, she worked in the secretarial field before marrying in 1949.
She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, whose family was the focus of her life. She especially enjoyed her many years of retirement with her husband James of 64 years on Lees Pond in Moultonborough. She enjoyed reading and taking scenic road trips, spending summers with family and friends on the pond was especially enjoyable for her.
She had a warm and friendly personality and enjoyed meeting and talking with people. She had a special fondness for children and enjoyed time as a volunteer reading to children at the elementary school. She was also a communicant of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Meredith, N.H.
She is survived by her two sons; John "Jack" Smith and his wife Pamela of Port Jefferson Station, N.Y., Thomas Smith and his partner Louise Jagusch of Gilford, N.H., A granddaughter; Christina Smith of Penacook, N.H., and a great granddaughter; Sophia Rose, beloved sister; Betty Matteace of New Hyde Park, N.Y., brother; Frank Martirani and his wife Toni of Guild Hall, VT, her niece; Lisa Matteace of Carle Place, N.Y. Rose was predeceased by her husband James who passed away in 2013.
The Smith Family would like to thank the wonderful staff at the Forestview manor for their years of kindness and compassion toward our mother's care. She will be missed by all who had the chance to know her.
