Ronald Vincent Porter passed away peacefully at his home in Laconia, N.H on September 2, 2016.
He was born on April 23, 1933 in Swampscott MA, and was the son of Charles and Catherine (O'Hara) Porter.
Ron graduated from Lynn English High School and in 1970 he started Portlyn Engineering Corp., where he produced small, precision components for the Aerospace industry. His company became known for the quality of their products which attracted customers from the Department of Defense and expanded to the medical device industry. In 1979 he switched operations to become a dedicated medical devices component supplier and was awarded two patents for medical devices which he developed. His family is extremely proud that he was self taught in his chosen field. In 1999, Ron retired, selling his company which today remains one of the leaders in the medical device field.
His interests included boating and, after obtaining his pilot's license, flying his small plane. He also enjoyed his years in retirement at his homes in Florida and NH with his wife Shirley.
Ron was pre-deceased by his wife Shirley Porter, who was also a partner and important contributor to the success of his company. He also leaves behind his first wife, Jane Porter of Alton, NH with whom he had four children and his brother Maynard Porter of Middleton, Ma.
Family members also include: Susan Croteau and her husband Denis of Peabody, MA., his beloved son David, who predeceased Ron in 2015, and his wife Sally of Meredith, NH, Lisa Hill and her husband Michael of Marlborough, MA and Leanne Brunelle and her husband Gary of Meredith, NH. Ron was also the proud grandfather to eleven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Ron's life was celebrated during a private funeral service in Meredith, NH.
