Ronald R. Karaszewski, 74, of Hayes Lane, Moultonborough, passed away on Sunday, August 15, 2010, in his home surrounded by his loving family.Born in Amsterdam, NY, on December 11, 1935, he was the son of Frank and Margaret (Bazan) Karaszewski. He was raised and attended public schools in Amsterdam. After graduating high school, he went on to Bryant College and received a degree in accounting. Ronald proudly served his country as a Sergeant in the US Army Security Agency.Ron lived in Pomfret, CT for 18 years, and spent 20 years (1961-1981) working at Spiral International Corporation in Dayville, CT. He began there as an accountant and rose to company President during his last 8 years at Spiral. After leaving Spiral Industries, he and his wife purchased and ran their own hand-made period lamp business for 5 years in Putnam, CT (HearthGlow; 1981-1985). In 1982 he joined the Moldex Corporation in Putnam, CT as President and partner, and retired after selling the business in 1995. He was very involved in the Pomfret area community, performing civic duties as the Chairman of the Board of Education, a member of the Board of Trustees for the Day-Kimball Hospital in Putnam, CT; and as an Associate Board member for the Connecticut Bank and Trust (now Fleet Bank). After retirement, Ron and his wife, Claudia, moved to Moultonborough where he spent the remainder of his life enjoying boating and other lake activities with family and friends. Ron had several hobbies including boating, antique lamp restoration, and muscle cars. He is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Claudia (Veglia) of Moultonborough; two daughters, Linda Karageorges and husband Arthur, of Meredith, and Karen Giuliano and husband Anthony, of Salem, NH; and three grandchildren, Alec Karageorges of Meredith, and Marissa and Christopher Giuliano of Salem, NH.Memorials:In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ron's memory to the Community Health and Hospice, 780 N. Main Street, Laconia, NH 03246.Cemetery:A private family interment will be held at a later date in the Arlington National Cemetery.
