Ronald M. Davis, Sr., 78, of Red Hill Road in Moultonborough, NH, lost his courageous battle with cancer on October 19, 2010 surrounded by family and friends. He was born in Moultonborough, NH, on September 23, 1932, he was the son of Chester A. Sr. and Ethel J. [Frye] Davis Ron resided in Moultonborough his entire life and graduated from the Quimby School, in Sandwich, class of 1951. After growing up and working on the family farm and in the family sawmill business, Ron went to work in the construction industry. Over a span of sixty-five years, Ron worked for Fred Davis Construction, Avery Construction, Ambrose Bros., the Town of Moultonborough, and Murphy Construction. Ron believed in service to his country by enlisting in the U.S. Army and serving in the Korean War. He served his community by being a proud member of the Moultonborough Volunteer Fire Department for over thirty years; the Moultonborough Historical Society, Moultonborough Grange and the Red Hill Outing Club, and service to his faith by being a long-time parishioner of the Moultonborough United Methodist Church. Ron will be remembered for his love of New Hampshire living, raising cattle and other animals, gardening, haying and his second home, his big white barn. He adored children and in addition to having his own family, was affectionately called "Uncle Ron" by hundreds of local children who were cared for in his wife's home day care center. Ron enjoyed visits to the ocean, hunting in the New Hampshire woods, sharing of stories with a twist of Yankee humor, the fall trips to his favorite agricultural fair and good times with family and friends. Ron was predeceased by his brothers, Francis, Lyndon, Larry and Chester, Jr. three sisters, Dorothy, Beverly and Bette. Ron is survived by his wife of 52 years, Rae Marie Davis of Moultonborough, son, Ronald M. Davis, Jr. and girlfriend Lori of Moultonborough, daughter, Rebecca Ulm and husband James, of Moultonborough, proud grandfather to 7 grandchildren, Kayla and Chad Davis of Laconia and Henry, Christopher, Emily, Dillon and Jacob Ulm of Moultonborough, also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins, foster children, Jayne Ruel of Meredith and Debbie Danforth of Belmont.Memorials:In lieu of flowers, donations may be to the Moultonborough United Methodist Church, Moultonborough Fire Department, Moultonborough, NH. 03254 or the Community Health and Hospice, 780 N.
