Rodney Alan Cail passes away March 17, 2024, in his sleep at his cottage that he cherished and had built for his mom many years ago. Now knowing that RODDY hated the name Alan more than Rodney, we will only call him Roddy from here on out. Roddy was predeceased by his wife Karen Claflin Cail on March 18, 2010. Ironically, almost the same day 14 years later.
Roddy was predeceased by his parents Lloyd and Doris Cail. Surviving family members are brothers David (Janis) Cail, Gerald (Anne) Cail as well as nieces and nephew, Barbara Cail, Bonnie (Joe DiBacco), Marguerite Cail, Scott (Helen) Cail, Daniel (Mirela) Cail.
Roddy was brought to NH in 1946 by his parents whom built a camp on Bear Island. That is when Roddy became a fixture on Meredith Neck. He worked in the boat years growing up , attended Dean Jr. College and then graduated for Belknap College. After college Roddy became a cross country truck driver for Allied Trucking which he excelled and was number 1 in the company for a many years. In 2012 on a trip Roddy suffered 2 strokes which took him off the road driving the big trucks.
That was when the transformation began. Roddy bought a dump trailer and put it behind his beloved LOUD 1994 RED F-150 truck and hauled brush, leaves and trees to the dump from his property. He mastered the art of stone wall building. And kept his property pristine.
The most important job to him was watching the neck. He patrolled early in the morning and if a needle was out of place he knew it.
Roddy was key to my business and was loved and sometimes not so much if you knew him by his Inter-Lakes Builder Family and Jamie Laurent who took good care of him.
He will be sorely missed, that never ending smile and willingness to watch over and help everyone he could.
Celebration of Life is on April 13, 2024 at 1pm at his cottage on Powers Road, Meredith.
