Robert Elliott Knell

Knell, Robert Elliott "Bob", 91 of Moultonborough, formerly of Watertown, Mass. Passed away on July 28, 2016 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Bob was born in Cambridge, MA on February 17, 1925, son of the late Walter W. and Annie (Elliott) Knell.
He proudly served his Country in the U.S. Army during WWII with the 561st Ordnance HM Company Tank in the Battles of Normandy, Ardennes, Rhineland, Northern France and Central Europe.
Later on Bob worked as an Engineer for Stone & Webster Engineering for over 30 years working on power plants with coal, oil and nuclear energy. He also was a proud and respected 18 ½ year member of the Moultonborough Fire & Rescue where he was awarded Firefighter of the Year in 2004.
He served with the Watertown Savings Bank in Watertown, Mass. for 15 years as Corporator and then 37 years as a Trustee. Bob was also a Mason for 18 years at the Chocorua Lodge #83 F&AM Masonic Lodge in Meredith.
Bob married Cathleen G. (Martin) Knell on April 7, 1990 and was previously married to Constance "Connie" (Waterhouse) Knell who passed away in 1984. Bob is also survived by his two children; Robert Edson Knell and his wife, Kirsten, of Watertown, MA and Carol Knell of Waltham, MA.
Bob was the oldest of eight children; predeceased by Richard W. Knell, David Knell, Walter "Lloyd" Knell, Irving Knell, and survived by Shirley Cornick and Betty Vlachos and her husband John and Warren Knell and his wife Marylou.
SERVICES: Family and friends will honor and remember Bob's life by gathering for calling hours in the Mayhew Funeral Home, 204 D.W. Highway (corner of Rt. 3 & Rt. 104) Meredith, NH on Tuesday, August 2nd from 2:00 to 4:00 PM. A Funeral Service will be held at the Moultonborough United Methodist Church, 1018 Whittier Highway, Moultonborough, NH on Wednesday, August 3rd at 10:00 AM. A private burial with Military Honors will be held in the NH State Veteran's Cemetery, Boscawen, NH at a later date.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Moultonborough Firefighters Association, PO Box 446, Moultonborough, NH 03254-0446 or to the Chocorua Lodge #83 F&AM Masonic Lodge, Meredith, NH 03253
