Robert Joseph Gregoire, 87, of Prospect Hill Road, Rumney, passed away on Monday, October 6, 2014 at his home.
Robert was born in Grand Forks, ND on October 8, 1926 and grew up in Grand Forks and in Spokane, WA. He graduated from Spokane High School. He resided in Berkley, CA and has been a resident of Rumney since 1964.
Robert was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving during the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion Post 0076.
Robert worked for the Roebling Company in San Francisco, CA and then was the North East Region Manager for Wire Rope Corporation of America. After his retirement in 1989, he returned to Maple Grove Farm and enjoyed producing maple syrup, haying and enjoying the stewardship of his land.
Robert was a member of the Church of the Holy Spirit, in Plymouth, the Rumney Historical Society, and the Baker River Grange, in Rumney. He served on the Rumney Planning Board, the Board of Directors of Speare Hospital, in Plymouth, and he helped established the Quincy Bog nature area in Rumney.
Robert is survived by his wife of fifty-five years, Thelma L. (Carr) Gregoire, of Rumney; son, Robert Gregoire and his wife Carla, of El Paso, TX; daughter, Suzanne L. Abernathy and her husband Dale, of Powder Springs, GA; grandchildren, Alex, Mark, Courtney, Megan, and Kelsey; brother, Wayne Smulan, of Kirkland, WA; sisters, Donna Miller, of Spokane, WA, Shirley Bradfute, of Manteca, CA. Robert is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
