Robert "Sam" Loren Getman, 71, of NH Route 175, died suddenly at his home on May 31, 2013.
Born in Gardner, Massachusetts on April 6, 1942, he was the son of Hugh and Beatrice (Evans) Yates. He grew up in Littleton and Newport, NH. Sam was a graduate of Newport's Stevens High School.
Sam worked a long haul truck driver, travelling from coast to coast for over thirty-one years. He also worked as a truck driver for the Town of Rumney and Wentworth.
Sam was a past member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, #2312, Plymouth, where he was a member of dart league for many years.
Sam is survived by his wife of twenty-seven years, Charlene A. (Downing) Getman, of Campton, children, Cathy Merrill of Goshen, NH, Dale Robert Getman of Washington State, Mark Stephen Getman of Rumney, James Eric Getman, Unity, NH, Caryn Lea Getman of Bristol, Kevin Scott Getman, of Lebanon, Angela Marie Bain, of Campton, Paul Lewis Smith of Campton, twenty grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, sister Toni Ayotte of Springfield, VT, nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Sam's life will be held at the Plymouth Lodge of Elks, NH Route 175, Holderness, on Sunday, Jun. 9, 12pm to 4pm.
