After his discharge from the service, while spending summers at his parents' home in Rumney, NH, he met a girl from Boston whose family had a farm across the street. That girl would later become his wife of 64 years. Eugenia Caroline Harmon was attending nursing school in Boston, so Bob decided to move there to be closer to her. Eugenia, Carol to all who know her, and Bob were married on April 23, 1954. While in Boston Bob worked as a lineman at Boston Edison Company. In 1955, after the birth of their first child, a daughter, Carol and Bob decided to move north to Campton, NH. Throughout his life Bob always had special interests in model trains and in sailing, even riding out the hurricane of 1938 (at age 12) on his favorite sailboat named the Mashnee.
His primary interests were always his family and his home, which included many pets along the way. Nothing in this world was more important to him than his family who all remain incredibly close. During his 27 years of retirement, he enjoyed spending loads of time with his family while always keeping his hands busy with countless projects. While smoking his pipe, he built numerous pieces of furniture, wood carvings, model ships, miniature cabins and shadow boxes and woodworking projects of all kinds, big and small. Everyone close to Bob has many cherished memories as well as gifts made with love and perfection by his hands.
