Robert J. Crowley, owner of RJ Crowley Moving & Storage and lifelong democrat, who amused and coaxed his fellow community members to commit themselves to such ideals as resource conservation and the dignified care of its elder citizens, died Wednesday December 28, grateful of his many blessings.
With signature strength, soft-spoken confidence, and abundant good humor he was a formidable presence for over fifty years in Plymouth NH, where he established his business in 1963. There he went about the work of his trade, as well as the work of his life, lending support to all manner of causes. Among them are the creation of one of the first community recycling centers in the State of New Hampshire, the Grafton County Senior Citizens Council and Plymouth Regional Senior Center, the Plymouth Public Library, the then nascent theater program that would evolve into the Educational Theater Collaborative, efforts to protect the Sandwich Notch from commercial logging activity, and every Democrat candidate who crossed his path.
Robert James Crowley was born July 9, 1937 in Franklin NH to Martin A. Crowley, a mover, and the former Mary Rose Brassard, a homemaker. His family and the men and women with whom he worked survive him.
A service will be held at eleven o'clock in the morning Monday, January 2 at the Plymouth Regional Senior Center in Plymouth NH.
