MEREDITH-Rita (Mooney) Lance, of Meredith, passed away on Thursday, November 26, 2015 following a long illness.

Rita was born on April 15, 1929 in Meredith, New Hampshire, the daughter of Francis X Mooney Sr. and Eva (Morin) Mooney. Rita grew up in Meredith, graduating from Meredith High School in 1948. After high school she attended hair dressing school in Concord, New Hampshire.

In 1951 Rita married William W. Lance Sr. who passed away in 2005. During their early years Rita and Bill lived in New Hampshire as well as Maine and Massachusetts. They, along with their four children moved back to Meredith in 1966. Rita was a loving wife and mother to her family. She worked for several years at Annalee Dolls; first as a home worker, later as an inspector and trainer.

Rita retired in 1989. At that time she and her husband spent many happy years in Florida where she learned to golf. She also enjoyed knitting, playing cards and visiting with friends and family. Rita and Bill returned to Meredith in 1999 to be closer to family.

Rita is predeceased by two sisters; Jeanette Marshall and Helen Miller. She leaves four siblings; Alice Ladd and Diane Ruel of Meredith, and Frank Mooney and Richard Mooney of Delaware.

Rita was very proud of her four children; all of whom followed their father's footsteps and became educators. They are Karen Mason and her husband Donald of Deerfield, NH, William Lance Jr. of Essex, VT, Frederick Lance and his wife Brenda of Andover, NH, and Pamela Swift and her husband John of Meredith, NH. She also leaves behind 8 loving grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Rita had a large extended family; she always enjoyed visiting with her many nieces and nephews.
