Richard J. Slocum, Sr., 78, of Wentworth, passed away at his home unexpectedly on October 20, 2014 after a lengthy illness.
He was born on July 16, 1936, in Danbury, CT, the son Lewis and Sarah (Read) Slocum. Richard was raised in Newtown, CT, and resided there for most of his life.
He married his wife in 1959, and together they raised their family throughout Fairfield County, CT. Richard and Phyllis retired to Wentworth, NH in 2004. Richard worked part-time for the Precision Lumber, Co.
He will be lovingly remembered by his family as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
He is predeceased by his son, Richard J. Slocum, Jr., and his half-brother, William Slocum.
Richard is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Phyllis A (Witter) Slocum, of Wentworth; his son, Kenneth L. Slocum and his wife Bonni, of Warwick, RI; his daughter, Nina M. Slocum, of Wentworth; two grandchildren, Hillary and Dustin Slocum; a great-granddaughter; three sisters, Susan, Jane, and Marion. Richard is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
