Richard Ellis Plaisted

Richard Plaisted of Moultonborough, passed away peacefully on December 16th, 2024, at Forest View Manor in Meredith, NH. Richard was born in Meredith, NH on March 25th, 1939 to Leonard and Dorthy (Colby) Plaisted. Richard was a devoted husband and preceded in death by his beloved wife of 53 years, Gloria. Richard was also predeceased by his parents and brother Roderick, daughter Linda.
Richard graduated from Laconia high school before going to Manchester technical school and becoming a master electrician and welder. He worked at Camp Winaukee for 30 years, where he built the camp barge with his father which is still in use today. Richard spent most of his adult life devoted to the Moultonborough fire department in various roles before retiring as Chief in 2004.
Richard married the love of his life Gloria (Taylor) on November 17, 1958. He built his family home with his father-in-law, Lester Taylor, where he and Gloria raised their family, and he lived out his life.
He is survived by his son, Brian and wife Lisa of Colorado Springs, CO and their children Jonathan, Nathaniel and girlfriend Dar, Joseph and girlfriend Adrianna and Bethany; Daughter Debbie and husband Keith Taylor of Moultonborough and their children Keith Taylor and spouse Lisa, Meagan Tilton and husband Aaron and Nicole Hoyt and husband Richard; Son Mark and wife Sandi of Eldersburg, MD and their children Elizabeth and James. Richard was also blessed with 7 great grandchildren Carter, Ethan, Landon, Austin, Bentley, Nevaeh and Brooks; His siblings Stephen and wife Andrea, Judy and husband Gary and George, along with many nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his companion Starr Hope.
A celebration of life will be held in the Spring; more information to follow. In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Moultonborough Volunteer Firefighters Association.
