Richard Alan Kennison

Richard Alan Kennison 66, of Thornton, passed away on Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at his home surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born on February 19, 1948 in Newport, VT, he was the son of Melvin B. and Alma E. (Walker) Kennison. In 1968 he enlisted with the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War, earning the rank of Sergeant.

Richard loved fishing, hunting, and enjoyed watching all sports. He cherished time spent with his family and many friends. Richard was a supervisor with the Sports Oil Coop., for many years. He and his family relocated to NH over 25 years ago so that he could open his dream business, a sports card and sports memorabilia shop called Dick's Dugout, in North Woodstock.

Richard is predeceased by his parents and his brothers, Bill and Tom Kennison.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 37 years, Nancy M. (Culleton) Kennison, of Thornton; daughters, Jacqueline Kennison, of E. Hampstead, Kristen Kennison, of Thornton; step-mother, Phyllis Kennison, of Brownington, VT; siblings, Marie Marrone, of Dracut, MA, Bob Marrone, of Irasburg, VT, Nancy Cluff and husband Tom, of Lowell, MA, Shelia Martin and husband Kirk, of Orleans, VT; Richard is also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.

Richard received loving and compassionate care at the Norris Cotton Cancer Center, in St. Johnsbury, VT, we ask that in lieu of flowers, donations in his memory be made to the:
