Richard H. Burton; 84, husband of Georgianna for the last 57 years, of Waterville Valley, passed away at Golden View Healthcare in Meredith after a long illness with his wife and friends at his side. Richard was born on August 5, 1933 in Syracuse, NY to Vivan and Dorothy Burton, previously residing in Montrose, NY, before residing in Wilmington, MA. He graduated from Emerson College in Boston, MA in 1961 and was employed by Utica Mutual Insurance Co. before retiring in 2010. He was a parishioner of St. Thomas of Villanova in Wilmington, MA as a long time resident of that town.
Richard married the love of his life, "Georgie", in 1961 as they made their home in Brockton, MA. He was a devoted husband and father who cherished time spent with the family. In addition to raising his son, he maintained his career as a insurance underwriting specialist. He was an avid animal lover, enjoyed all sports, especially the Boston Red Sox. Richard was a generous contributor to the local high school and college sports teams. He also enjoyed music and spent most of his time reading. Richard will be most remembered for his flaming red hair and his sense of humor, as well as camaraderie with his friends.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by 2 grandchildren, Clarissa and Evan Burton and 2 great grandchildren, Soren Lucas and Ramsey Coulter St. Jean. Also, dear friends, Anne Keeler, Barbara and Wayne Thornbrough and "Rosie" the cat. Richard is predeceased by his son Richard Jr.
