Rebecca "Becky" Pope, 100, of Thornton, died peacefully in her home of 54 years in Thornton, on Monday, December 28, 2009, surrounded by loving family members, just 3 months shy of her 101st birthday. Throughout her life, in her dedication to God, family, and friends, she donated countless hours to local civic and charitable causes, and was greatly loved and respected by everyone whose lives she touched. Becky loved gardening, bird watching, cooking, canning and jelly making. She also loved to travel near and far, and drove her car until the age of 90. She especially loved babies and little children, who in turn adored her. She was a truly loving, gentle, caring soul who will be sorely missed. She was the widow of James N. Pope, who died in December 1972, and was predeceased by a son, Edward O. Pope, in Nov. 2004. She is survived by two sons, James N. Pope, Jr and Robert D. Pope, and a daughter, Elizabeth M. Philbrick, as well as many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and other relatives. Memorials:Donations may be made in her memory to the Pemi Baker Home Health & Hospice, 101 Boulder Point Drive, Suite 3, Plymouth, NH 03264, although not necessary, would be greatly appreciated. Visitation:A visiting hour will be held from 10:00 am through 11:00 am at Mayhew Funeral Home, 12 Langdon St., Plymouth, on Saturday, January 2, 2009Service:A funeral service will follow the visitation at 11:00 am in the funeral home.Cemetery:A Graveside Service will take place in the spring on May 9, 2010 (Mother's Day), at the Pine Grove Cemetery, Rte. 175, Thornton, at 2 p.m.
