Raymond Roger Landry, 73, of US Route #3, Thornton, died July 26, 2016 at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Hospital, in Lebanon, after a long battle with pancreatic cancer.
Born in Holyoke, Massachusetts on December 22, 1942, he was the son of Theodore Major and Mary Rose (Gosselin) Landry.
Raymond spent the first five years of his life in Holyoke and then move to N. Woodstock. He attended the Lincoln schools and resided in the Lincoln and N. Woodstock area for many years. He has been a resident of Thornton for the past seventeen years.
Raymond worked as a truck driver for several of the area contractors and then spent twenty-three years, as a truck driver for the State of New Hampshire's Department of Transportation. During his retirement, he owned and operated Landry Light Trucking, plowing and hauling firewood for many area families.
Raymond served for four years in the US Navy and then joined the NH Army National Guard, where he served as a Sargent for about eighteen years.
Raymond was a lifetime member of the Joseph Newton American Legion Post #83, in Lincoln and had served as the Post Commander for eighteen years. He also had served on the Lincoln and Plymouth Fire Departments.
Raymond is survived by his wife of seventeen years, Marianne (DaRu) Peabody Landry of Thornton, NH, his children, Jeffrey T. Landry of El Paso, TX, Timothy R. Landry of Florida, Kelly M. Cooke of Woodstock, NH, Laura P. Rodgers, of Thornton, NH, Clinton T. Peabody of Campton, NH, six grandchildren, brother, Ernest Landry of Portsmouth, NH, sisters, Janet Woodbury of Citrus Springs, FL, Rachel Huyck of Beverly Hills, FL, and many nieces and nephews.
