Phyllis "Scatter" M. Kachur, 61, of Thornton, formerly of Newport, RI, passed away at Speare Memorial Hospital, surrounded by her loved ones after a courageous battle with cancer, on Tuesday, February 19, 2013.
Born in Oakland, CA, on September 20, 1951, she was the daughter of Phillip R. and Freda Elizabeth (Johnson) Kachur. In her life, Phyllis enlisted with the U.S. Air Force; she attended culinary school to learn the skills of her trade and worked as a Chef at Brown University and many other restaurants throughout her career.
Phyllis is survived by her brother, David R. Kachur and wife Susan, of Putnam, CT; niece and nephew, Eric Kachur, of Ft. Worth, TX, and Natasha Kachur, of Camden, SC; several other nieces and nephews, and her dear friends Claudia Williams and Ken Lopes, both of Thornton, NH.
A graveside service will be held in the spring at the Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, Exeter, RI, and will be announced at a later date.
