Philip Edward Dorais, 73, of Laconia, New Hampshire, passed away on August 8, 2024, peacefully with his daughters at his side. Born in Laconia on January 23, 1951, to Edgar and Frances Dorais of Meredith, where he grew up. He later moved to Moultonborough where he lived most of his life, spending time with his daughters and beloved dog Burt.
Phil graduated from Inter-Lakes High School and later attended Lakes Region Technical Institute and became a talented marine mechanic at Gilford Marina in Gilford and also dedicated many years to Goodhue Marina in Center Harbor.
An avid outdoorsman, Phil's passions included hiking, fishing, kayaking and snowshoeing, often accompanied by his daughters and Burt. He has accomplished countless 4000ft climbs throughout the years. His daughters fondly remember spending many afternoons enjoying the refreshing waters of the Potholes and Beede Falls in Sandwich or weekends spent at Russell Pond camping. His love for animals was profound from childhood to his later years taking in many small pets as a child. Phil also pursued flying and owned an airplane, exploring the skies as he did the trails and waters.
Phil is survived by his daughters, Kaitlyn Hayman (Dorais) and her husband Joshua of Tuftonboro, and Kara Dorais and her fiancé Douglas Cotnoir, Granddaughters Alula-Claire and Tennleigh Cotnoir of Moultonborough; his brother Charles Dorais of Meredith; and his sister Emily McNamara (Dorais) and her husband Stephen of Sandwich. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. Phil was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Frances Dorais, and his brothers George Dorais and Kenneth Dorais.
