Oscar "Occi" R. Cushing, Jr, 88, of 65 Loon Lake Rd., Plymouth, passed away peacefully in his sleep at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Edith and Ray Barlow, on June 27, 2009.Born on September 20, 1921, he was the son of the late Oscar R. and Ethel (Thompson) Cushing Sr. Oscar attended Plymouth Schools graduating from Plymouth High School.After graduating high school he joined the military where he proudly fought for his country in WWII. He achieved the rank of Sargeant in the Army and National Guard."Occi" worked for many years as an auto body mechanic for McCormick Motors in Holderness, and then Kelley's Autobody of West Plymouth.He is predeceased by his two brothers, Freddy and Roger Cushing, and two sisters, Doris Joyce and Marian Ray.Oscar leaves behind his beloved wife of 50 years, Eleanor M. Cushing, of Plymouth; a daughter, Edie Barlow and her husband Raymond, and their daughter Sarah, of Plymouth; a daughter, Ethel Bishop and her husband Mark, and their daughters, Shantel and Angie, all of Plymouth; a brother, Roy Cushing, of RI, and a sister, Geraldine Bell, of Wolfboro, NH; he is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.Memorials:In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family to assist with final expenses.Service:A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, June 30, 2009 at 3:00pm in the Riverside Cemetery, Fairgrounds Rd, Plymouth.
