Newell S. Burnham, 75, of Seabrook, NH, formerly of Moultonborough, passed away in Portsmouth Regional Hospital, on Monday, October 11, 2010   Born in Ipswich, MA, on July 31, 1935, he was the son of the late Newell L. and Florence E. (Mitchell) Burnham. Newell served the US Army for six years. Formerly of Essex and Gloucester MA, he retired to Moultonborough, NH, after 36 years of employment with the Gloucester Engineering Co., where he was a machinist. Newell was a very special man, he was the oldest of ten siblings, and learned from an early age to help others as much as he could, even if it meant he went without.  He loved to fish, and for many years, he was an avid clam digger on the Essex River.  Newell also had a deep love for gardening and looked forward to working the Pumpkin Patch at the Moultonborough UMC. He is predeceased by his brother, James Burnham. Newell is survived by his four children, Justine and Stephen Cantone, of Moultonborough, NH, Randy and Colleen Burnham, of Amesbury, MA, Kristen Burnham, of Gloucester, MA, and Douglas Burnham, of Jaffrey, NH; his four grandsons, Ryan Cantone US Navy, Harrison and Billy Burnham, of Amesbury, MA, and Samuel Cantone, of Moultonborough, NH; he is also survived by eight siblings, many nieces and nephews, and many friends.Memorials:In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.Service:A funeral service will be held at the Moultonborough United Methodist Church on Saturday, October 16, 2010 at 10:00 am, the Rev. Paul O'Neil, pastor, will officiate.Cemetery:Interment will follow the service and will be held in the Shannon Cemetery (Rte. 109), Moultonborough.
