Neale Harley Bavis, 81, of Thompson St., Ashland, died September 9, 2018, at his home, after a period of failing health.
Born in Ashland on February 24, 1937, he was the son of Clifton and Doris L. (Smith) Bavis.
Neale was a life-long resident of Ashland and graduated from Ashland High School, class of 1955.
Neale worked for over thirty years as a mechanic at L.W. Packard Woolen Mill, in Ashland.
Neale served the town of Ashland as a selectman and a member of the Budget Committee. He also was a thirty plus year member of the Ashland Volunteer Fire Department.
Neale was US Air Force veteran.
Neale is survived by his wife of forty-three years, June A. (Corson) Bavis of Ashland, his children, Gary Bavis of Tilton, Lee Bavis of Ashland, Karen Pauplis of Sterling, MA, his stepchildren, Scott B. Moore of Plymouth, Lori J. Mayo of Meredith, Richard W. Moore of Hampton, Craig P. Moore of Ashland, thirteen grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, his brothers, Clifton Bavis of Ashland, Deane Bavis of Las Vegas, NV, nieces and nephews.
A private graveside service will be held in the Green Grove Cemetery.
