Nancy F. Hogan

February 3, 1926 — September 9, 2018

Nancy F. Hogan, 92, formerly of Plymouth, died September 9, 2018 at Bellamy Fields Assisted Living in Dover after a period of failing health.

Born in Terryville, CT. on February 3, 1926, she was the daughter of Thomas Joseph and Inez (Burr) Finan.

Nancy grew up in Terryville, CT. and graduated from Terryville High School. She graduated New Rochelle Collage, New Rochelle, NY, class of 1948. She, her husband James and the oldest three Hogan children moved to Plymouth, NH. in 1953. Six more children were born in Plymouth. In 2010 she moved to Meredith, NH.

Nancy was a devoted teacher who taught in Connecticut schools and for many years in schools in Holderness and Plymouth, NH.

Nancy was a very active member of St. Matthews Roman Catholic Church, now Holy Trinity Parish, in Plymouth. She served the church as a lecturer and Eucharistic minister. She was a proud co-founder of Mercy Meals at St. Matthews Church and member of Plymouth's Meals for Many for over twenty years. Nancy was a longtime member of the Faculty Wives Club at Plymouth Teachers College, Plymouth State College and Plymouth State University.

Nancy enjoyed quilting and became a Master Quilter. She sang joyfully in the Pemi Valley Chorus and in St. Matthew's Church Choir. She participated in aqua aerobics and swam laps in the PSU pool and although cooking meals for a family of eleven she was always happy to provide a meal or kind word to neighbors.

Nancy is survived by her nine children: Nancy Galante and her husband Peter of Melbourne, Australia; James J. Hogan and his wife Robin of Holderness, NH.; Barbara A. Hogan of Concord, NH; Linda M. Hogan of Portland, ME; Paul T. Hogan and his wife Pamela of Bow, NH; Michael J. Hogan and his wife Lita of Londonderry, NH; William R. Hogan and his wife Beth of Grand Rapids, MI; Margaret H. Folan and her husband Michael of Alton, NH; Mary H. Hogan-Mallon and her husband Bill of Cumberland, RI; ten grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; her sister, Harriet Bleau and her husband Ernest of Bristol, CT, and several nieces and nephews.

Nancy died as she wished, in peace, surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She was a humble servant devoted to her family, her church and her community. She spent thirty-six years in a wonderful marriage and partnership with her true love and best friend, Dr. James J. Hogan, who died 7/6/86. It gives the Hogan children comfort and joy to know their parents are dancing together in heaven.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Holy Trinity Parish, St. Matthews Church, School St., Plymouth, on Friday, Sept. 21st, at 11am. The Hogan family's dear friend, Rev. Robert F. Cole, Pastor of Saint Katherine Drexel Catholic Church, in Alton and Wolfeboro will be the celebrant. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers Nancy wished Memorial Donations be made to the James J. Hogan and Nancy F. Hogan Scholarship Fund, C/O PSU, Office of Advancement, 17 High St. MSC 50, Plymouth, NH. 03264.
