In Loving Memory of Minnie M. “Nana” Sorell March 31, 1944 –October 31, 2025
NEW HAMPTON - Minnie M. (Nana) Sorell, 81, of New Hampton, NH passed away peacefully on October 31, 2025, after a long battle with numerous health issues. “Nana,” as she was known to family and friends, was born in Rumney, NH on March 31, 1944, to Leona M. (Chase) and Perley V. Avery. Nana was the loving wife to Alex D. Sorell, Sr. for 58 wonderful years before his passing in 2021. She and the love of her life knew each other for over seventy years; growing up near each other since the age of five. Nana was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who built her life around the love of her family. Minnie grew up in Meredith and lived most of her life in Sandwich, before moving to New Hampton. She worked over twenty plus years for Annalee Dolls in Meredith, NH.
Minnie was one of eight children; five sisters and two brothers. She is survived by her son, Alex D. Sorell, Jr. of New Hampton; her daughter, Crystal (Sorell) Billings and her husband, Michael of New Hampton; her granddaughter, Morgan (Billings) Earle and her husband, Chad; great-granddaughter, Lily J. Earle of Belmont; her grandson, Arejay Billings and his wife, Stacy of Danbury; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Alex D. Sorell, Sr., with whom she shared a lifetime of love and laughter, trials, and triumphs.
Minnie was a wonderful homemaker whose home was always filled with warmth, laughter, and the smell of something delicious cooking in the kitchen. She was elegant and ladylike, yet carried a spark of sassiness—especially in her later years—that made her both endearing and unforgettable. She was a strong, beautiful woman who never quit, and never realized just how beautiful she was. She had a very special relationship with her grandchildren and great-granddaughter. Minnie had a way of making everyone around her feel seen and loved. She was a woman of faith, loved the Lord, and her church family.
She found joy in life’s simple pleasures: cooking for her family, singing in the kitchen, crafting, traveling, and spending peaceful moments along the coast of Maine. Her gentle, and at times colorful humor, compassion, love for her family, and joyful presence left an imprint on all who knew her.
Minnie’s light and love will live on through her family and the countless memories she leaves behind. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
There will not be any calling hours. A graveside service will be held at 2pm, Friday, November 14, 2025, at the Meredith Village Cemetery, Meredith NH.
