Mildred ("Millie") Clara Tillson, 93, died on Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at her home in Campton, New Hampshire, of dementia with Lewy bodies. She was born on March 5, 1923 in rural Fleming, Colorado to Fred and Martha (Kirsch) Pimple, eventually relocating to nearby Sterling, Colorado. She graduated from St Anthony of Padua Catholic High School in 1941. In 1943, she enlisted in the Navy (the WAVES). She met her husband, the late Norwood Wright Tillson, at Port Hueneme, California, where they were both stationed. They married on May 27,1944 in Oxnard, California. Mildred was discharged with the rank of Yeoman, Second Class. She moved to Walden, New York in 1945. She worked at various secretarial and bookkeeping jobs throughout her life. From 1962 until 1977, she was the Payroll Clerk for the Valley Central School District in Montgomery, New York. Mildred and her husband came to Plymouth, New Hampshire in 1977. She kept the books for TAV Electronics. She was a member of St Matthew's Church in Plymouth and also attended services at St Agnes in Ashland. She assisted in the establishment of Sight Services for Independent Living in Plymouth. She was a member of Granite State Unit 33 of WAVES National. She was also a member of the William Deakin-Joel H. Cook American Legion Post 158 of Walden, New York. She is survived by her son, Guy Frederic Tillson, who assumed caring for her at her home in Campton in 2014; her grandson, Justin Scott Tillson, Sr and wife Kimberly, great-grandchildren Justin Scott ("Jay") Tillson, Jr, Robert John Stafford, and Elizabeth Lucia Tillson, all of St George, South Carolina. There are several nieces and nephews in Colorado, Wyoming, Arizona, and Texas. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, her son Bruce Charles Tillson, her siblings (George, Robert, and William Pimple and Dorothy Applehans and Lucille Southard). There will be no calling hours. Mayhew Funeral Home of Plymouth is handling the cremation. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at St Matthew's Church, 11 School Street, in Plymouth, New Hampshire on Labor Day Monday, September 5, 2016, at 9:00am with Rev. Leo Leblanc officiating. Donations may be made to Comfort Keepers or Pemi-Baker Home Health and Hospice, both in Plymouth. Interment will be at the Wallkill Valley Cemetery in Walden, New York at the convenience of the family.
