BRISTOL --- Matthew "Matt" Gendron, a truly kind and gifted soul, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, May 3, 2026.
Matt was a remarkably talented craftsman with an extraordinary ability to work with his hands and his heart. There was seemingly nothing he could not create or repair; whether it was wood, metal, concrete, epoxy, or anything else placed before him. His creativity, precision, and dedication were evident in everything he did, and he took great pride in doing things the right way.
In his youth, Matt was an extremely talented motocross rider. His passion, fearlessness, and natural ability set him apart, and those who watched him ride knew he possessed a remarkable gift.
Matt was known for his generous spirit and genuine kindness. He was the type of person who would do anything for anyone, always going above and beyond without hesitation. His compassion and dependability left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
He had a deep love for animals, especially turtles, and his gentle nature extended naturally to all living things.
Family meant everything to Matt. He shared an especially close bond with his mother, Cathy. He is lovingly remembered by his stepfather, Mark Ballou; stepbrother, Mark Ballou Jr.; and stepsisters, Stephanie Chaisson and Michelle Potter. He will also be deeply missed by his aunt, Christine Gendron, cousin, Brittany Follansbee and nephew Dominick Colby. Matt has several lifelong friends that will deeply miss his infectious personality.
Matt was preceded in death by his beloved grandmother, Barbara Gendron, with whom he shared a deep and meaningful connection.
Calling hours will be held Friday, May 15, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Mayhew Funeral Home in Meredith. Graveside will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, May 16, at Homeland Cemetery in Bristol. Family and friends are invited to attend and remember Matt's life, kindness, and the love he shared with so many.
Though his passing was unexpected, Matt's kindness, talent, and generosity will never be forgotten. He will be remembered for what he built with his hands, the passions he pursued, and the goodness he gave so freely to others.
