Mary Folsom Hutchins Crocker, 93, died on April 22, 2015 after a brief illness. Mary was the daughter of Robert and Hattie Folsom, of Reading, Massachusetts. She was the youngest of three children and was born on February 16, 1922.
Mary graduated from Walnut Hill School, Natick, MA, in 1939 and Skidmore College, Saratoga Springs, NY, in 1943. That same year she married Lt. Emlen T. Hutchins and they were stationed in South Carolina before Emlen was deployed to the battle front in Europe during WWII. After the war she and Emlen lived in Reading, MA until Emlen (who worked for Travelers Insurance Company) was transferred to Rochester, NY. They subsequently moved to Albany, NY, and Needham, MA.
After Emlen's sudden death in 1963 she met and married Winslow Crocker. They lived in Needham and then Reading, MA until 1976 when she and Winslow built a home on Lake Winnipesaukee on property she had inherited from her parents. Winslow died in 1988 and she remained at her lake house home until 1997 when she moved to the Taylor Community in Laconia, NH.
Mary was an active member of the Meredith Congregational Church and served on the flower committee for many years. She was also a member of the Meredith Garden Club, along with her nephew's wife, Mrs. Shirley Currier. Mary loved to play bridge and belonged to many bridge groups.
Mary and her late husband Emlen had two sons, she is survived by her oldest son Richard Karl Hutchins, of Claremont, NH. Her son Peter Folsom Hutchins predeceased her. She is also survived by her step-son, Winslow Crocker, Jr., of Cape Cod, MA. Other surviving family members include her grandchildren, Lt. Col Benjamin K. Hutchins, of Cape Carteret, NC, Peter Hutchins, Jr., of New Hampton, NH, Matthew T. Hutchins, of Midland, NC, Nicholas B. Hutchins, of Washington, DC, Kate Kull Connolly, of Wilmot, NH, Sean Kull, of ME, Scott Kull, of TX, Winslow Crocker, III, of Miami, FL, and Sarah Crocker, of Cleveland, OH. Her grandson Andrew F. Hutchins predeceased her. She is also survived by her two great grandsons, Wyatt and Henry Hutchins, and numerous nieces and nephews.
