Mary H, Ames, 81, passed away on March 18, 2022, with her family by her side. Mary was born on April 30, 1940, in Plymouth, NH to the late Howard and Beatrice Hutchins.
Mary was a homemaker and a mother of 5 and stepmother of 2. She enjoyed spending time with her beloved grandchildren, she loved the Boston Red Sox and spent much of her time crocheting Afghans. Mary also enjoyed traveling around the country and was a big lover of all types of sea food.
Mary is survived by her daughter Lori Gilpatric and her husband Garrett of Bristol, NH. Her 4 sons Mike Plummer and his wife Roseann of New Hampton, NH, Tim Dow and his wife Monique of Sanbornton, NH, Page Dow and his wife Becky of Northfield, NH, Mark Dow and his wife Carmen of Andover, NH.
She is also survived by her stepdaughter Sue Rose of Durham, NH and her stepson Alan Ames of Gorham, ME. A brother Robert Hutchins and a sister Barbara Cass both of Plymouth, NH.
Mary also leaves behind 13 Grandchildren and 18 Great Grandchildren along with many nieces, nephews, and friends. She also leaves behind 2 very special friends, who Mary considered her sisters, Gwen Hackett of Bristol, NH and Sandra Wright of South Daytona, FL.
Mary was predeceased by her husband James Wesley Ames, her sister Kathleen Sharp, a brother Ellison (Buster) Hutchins and her grandson Ryan Dow.
Mary's family would like to express their deep gratitude to the Wolfboro Bay Center-NH/Genesis Healthcare, and to the Darthmouth-Hitchcock Jack Byrne's Center for Palliative & Hospice Care staff for their wonderful care and acts of kindness and support during her time there.
A graveside service will be on April 22, 2022, at 11:30 am at Riverside Cemetery in Plymouth, NH. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made in Mary's name to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 7023, Merrifield, VA 221116-7023.
