Marvin Brown, 88 (also known fondly as Chap and Brownie), passed away peacefully on January 3rd after a period of deteriorating health. Marvin was born on August 5, 1935, to parents Marvin and Laura Moore-Brown. He was the fourth of twelve children all born at home.
On February 2, 1957, he married his loving wife of 67 years, Judy Rowe at St. Marks Church in Ashland NH. Together they raised three children on Chemung Road in Meredith Center.
From 1952-1955 Marvin was a US Army veteran with the 181st Airborne serving in Korea as a paratrooper. When he returned to Meredith, he took great pride in owning his own home and his 30-plus-year career with Pike Industries where he started as a laborer and ended as Superintendent of Paving. He also loved his large extended family and was the first one to assist with endless family projects. In his retirement, he and Judy traveled the country in their RV and were snowbirds for several winters in Florida.
He was preceded by his parents, and brothers William and Richard Brown, sisters Marion Brown, Shirley Kenniston, Edna Tyrell, June Kenniston and grandson Eric Brown.
He leaves behind his wife Judy, brothers Robert and Gary Brown, sisters; Bonnie Fogg, Linda Mutney and Carol Berry as well as sons, Arvin, Philip and his wife Michelle, daughter Teale Brown-Moore and husband Peter along with four grandchildren; Carley, MacKenzie, Maia and Amelia and great-grandsons Levi and Max.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, June 15th, 2024, at 11am at the Oakland Cemetery, Meredith, NH.
